For the first time since 1998, the Hun School hoisted the NJSIAA Prep A Tournament championship trophy. To do so, the Raiders defeated Lawrenceville 14-6, snapping the Big Red’s 13-title streak.
The score was tight early on, Hun School taking a 4-3 lead in the first quarter. Then, the Raiders broke away in the second, outscoring Lawrenceville 7-1 in the quarter to take an 11-4 lead before halftime.
The pace slowed down in the second half. Lawrenceville peppered Hun’s Jon Levine with shots, but the junior goalie came up with 26 huge saves. By the final whistle, the Hun School walked away with an eight-goal victory and a well-deserved championship title.
Raider Chris Donovan led all scorers with four goals and an assist. Adding to the tally, Chris Aslanian netted a hat trick and Brendan Rooney and Cole West both score twice.
Now boasting a 19-1 record and a championship season, the Hun School ranks 1st in New Jersey and 7th in the DigitalSports National Lacrosse Rankings.
Heading into the offseason, the Raiders can prepare to defend their state title for the first time in 17 years.
